The Big Reveal - Heart2Home reno of the Dream Center

After a week, the project was mostly complete and Heart2Home prepared for the big reveal.  The new patio by Harper Concrete is amazing.  A beautiful place for gathering.  Ramps installed to better serve the Dream Center's needs and help their dream come true.  In the end, many hours were donated, hands painted, finished floors, new kitchen, bathroom fixtures along with things we don't often see or think about, heating and air.  Those same hands worked tirelessly to clean up for the big reveal.  Some of the carpet guys spent the night, only resting for a couple of hours.

Greg & Sean from Heart2Home presented the key to Alfred and Rebecca from Foster The Future presented a special drum skin signed by Foster The People.  They plan to display it in a special place in the center.

Amazing to watch Heart2Home in action and a privilege to put a little bit of help into this project.

ServeUrVillage helps Heart2Home with a special visit from Foster The Future

Back in October we had a blast helping Heart2Home work on their renovation project to help Alfred Murillo and The Dream Center.  The Dream Center kickoff was back in July with Foster The Future's doGood event, highlighted in a previous post.

For the October big finish, ServeUrVillage organized 20+ people to add to the other volunteers from each organization to do some light demo. Thanks to everyone for coming out to help us.

The Jazz Bear and Heart2Home are great friends, so the Jazz Bear came to help out too!  The bear with the coolest bike and a lot of heart!

Demo day involved breaking out a window, ripping up carpet, tearing out tile and removing cabinets from the kitchen.  It took under three hours because of the great turn out of helping hands.  Thanks to those who responded to the ServeUrVillage activity! We do this together.

Special thanks to Rebecca Pontius from Foster The Future who was able to join Heart2Home and work on finishing the project.  We love doing good with Rebecca and appreciate her support and encouragement of ServeUrVillage.  Thank you!!

This first group of pics are from Demo day. More to follow on the big reveal and how it looks finished up!
